RE: City of Toccoa Receives Rural Redevelopment Grant

TOCCOA, GA – July 6, 2022 – The City of Toccoa is pleased to report that it has received a Rural Downtown Redevelopment Grant from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) for the construction of a greenspace in the existing Tugalo Street Parking Lot in Downtown Toccoa.

Commissioner Christopher Nunn of the DCA announced 9 grant recipients for this special allocation of funding. The award selection process was highly competitive, as 53 applications were received requesting over $104 million in funding. “These projects represent strategic investments in revitalizing downtown districts,” said Commissioner Nunn. “Downtowns are the heart and economic centers of so many of our communities. These funds will assist in creating a sense of place and connectivity to residents, which promotes the economic vitality of our downtowns.” Toccoa was the only community to receive funding in Northeast Georgia.
